Argentinian media are reporting that the likes of Sergio Aguero, Angel Di Maria and others are set to retire from international football like Lionel Messi.
Messi and Mascherano are thinking of international retirment
Prior to the Copa America final, which Argentina lost on penalties to Chile, Messi had lamented the AFA publicly, calling them ‘a disaster’ on social media.
Lionel Messi has already announced his intention to retire from international football following the defeat saying: “I feel a great sadness right now that this is happening again. I missed my penalty, which was super important. That’s it.
“The national team is over for me. That’s four finals (lost), it’s not for me. “It’s a made decision, I think.”
After Messi’s comments. Sergio Aguero admitted that members of the sqaud were contemplating retirement after reaching three consecutive finals in three years and losing them all.
He said: “There are several players who are evaluating not continuing with the national team. This is the worst locker room I’ve ever been in, worse than the final in the World Cup in Brazil and the other Copa America.
” However a report from ESPN Argentina claims Javier Mascherano, Lucas Biglia, Ever Banega, Ezequiel Lavezzi and Angel Di María are all looking at potential international retirement.
Argentina’s next matches come in World Cup qualification with a Sept. 1 home context against Uruguay before a trip to Venezuela.
